The Bureau was founded in 1996.

Architect MAI SHEIN

Architect qualification level 7


Board Member of the Union of Estonian Architects, chairman of the Union’s Qualification Committee and member of the Copyright Issues Workgroup.


Mai Shein started her career as an architect in ETKVL “Tsentrosojuzprojekt” planning and designing public buildings such as canteens and restaurants.

1990-1992 she worked as an architect in Finland at the planning division of the Rovaniemi municipality. During this period she won two architectural design competitions:

  • Commercial and cultural centre and a “gate” to Rovaniemi County named “Saarenportti”. The Centre was not built due onset of economic crisis in Finland.
  • Office building and warehouse for Rovakate OY that was completed in 1996.

1992-1995 she was an architect at “TOPOGRAAF” OÜ in Estonia.

In 1996 she established her own Bureau in Tallinn.

Awards

In 1995, 1996, 1998 and 2004 Mai Shein was nominated for the Estonian National Cultural Award.

In 2008 she was nominated for the Architecture Award of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.

Interest and hobbies: architecture and golf.

Mai has published several articles on architecture in Estonian press.
